Hi, I’m Kristi Haynes a storyteller, speaker and trainer who believes deeply in the power of nature, family, and the quiet wisdom woven into our everyday lives. My inspiration flows from the banks of Mill Creek, where our family cabin is nestled in the Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon–a place where life slows down, perspective sharpens, and the beauty of simple moments become the ones we treasure most. Whether I’m speaking to a large audience or gathered with a small group, I strive to bring warmth, authenticity, and humor into every conversation, creating spaces for reflection and true connection.
Over the years, it has been my privilege to share my stories and insights at events, retreats, and workshops. I invite my audience to pause, listen, and take in the quiet wisdom that nature and life offer. Whether it’s a keynote presentation or a more intimate gathering, my goal is to leave you with a renewed sense of purpose and connection.
I’ve always had a love for writing–from editor of my high school yearbook to creating professional training programs throughout my career.
During the long days of the pandemic, I was given a piece of advice that changed everything: If you’re bored and looking for a new hobby, think back to what you loved doing as a child. For me, that was writing. And so, this book began. What started as a labor of love for my family soon grew into something bigger, an invitation for others to explore their own roots, to remember the strength and grace of those who came before, and to pass those stories on.
After graduating from Washington State University with a degree in Psychology, I worked in church ministry, then became a Life Coach specializing in marriage support. I founded my company, Momentum Coaching, where I helped couples build stronger relationships.
But my most rewarding work has always been with students– listening to their stories, providing them with tools to navigate life, and helping them feel seen. As the director of the Benton/Franklin County Youth Suicide Prevention Program, I had the privilege of raising awareness, providing resources, and helping to create the first Suicide Prevention Coalition in our area. For that work, I was honored to receive the WASA Community Leadership Award in 2018.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with individuals, families, communities, and organizations to help people connect, grow, and thrive. But nothing compares to the joy I feel when I can use stories to bridge gaps and bring people closer to their roots.
I live in Kennewick, Washington, with my husband, Ken, of 43 years. We share a love for skiing, hiking, golfing, and exploring the Pacific Northwest. Together, we’re fortunate to enjoy time with our two daughters, Katie and Kylee, and three grandsons who keep us on our toes. When we’re not traveling or out on an adventure, we enjoy quiet moments at our family cabin on Mill Creek.
Writing this book has been a journey of rediscovery, and I’m thrilled to share it with you. I hope it inspires you to reflect on your own story, your family, and the legacy you’re building for future generations.
